It turns out that the High Sierra Trail (HST) is like the JMT’s little brother and an incredible alternative. At only 72 miles, it can be completed in under a week, but it still features everything the Sierras have to offer; Colossal mountains, jagged peaks and ridges, crystal clear alpine lakes, magnificent lush forests, stunning meadows, towering waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife.
I ended up spending two nights camping among the rounded boulders of the Alabama Hills and since some of the following pictures were literally taken from my bed, it’s safe to say that this is one of my favorite spots I’ve ever camped at.

After my winter hibernation spent watching photography tutorials, I was excited when my girlfriend had a business trip to Seattle so I could tag along to explore.
Since getting into photography nearly eight years ago, I’ve been learning, training, and teaching myself the art whenever I could, but sometime last year, I realized I had kind of stopped pushing myself.
This year was definitely a busy one with almost 12,000 road-trip miles driven and probably about 200+ miles hiked… This was definitely hard to narrow down this year, but here are my favorite shots from 2017.
