2015 was marred with spurts of heavy travel and photography, each followed by a lull of complete and utter laziness – My real job was slammin’ as we completed a $4 million renovation to the property in preparation for ski season, but it’s now the new year and I don’t think I’ve gone out shooting since I was in St Kitts and Nevis at the end of November.
But despite that laziness, it was still a pretty awesome year.
Ski Jackson & Grand Teton NP in the Winter
I had spent a bunch of time in Jackson, but it was always during the summer in mainly in the parks (Grand Teton & Yellowstone). I finally got up there in January for a lazy day in the park, a backcountry lap on Teton Pass, and a few days on the mountain. T’was pretty awesome.
Desert Mountain Biking
200+ miles of mountain biking in Moab and on multiple trips to Fruita throughout the year.
Hut Trips
Spring of 2015 was my first backcountry hut trip experiences – Fowler-Hilliard and Shrine Mountain Inn. Shit snow both weekends, but sweet times all around.
The Philippines
I spent four weeks island hopping around the Philippines. To only call it only “beautiful” might be an insult…
The Flattops Wilderness
I live so close to it and had been hearing how beautiful it was for years, but I had just never ventured in to the Flat Tops Wilderness (CO) before. Finally got up there for a weekend.
Blue Lakes, Sneffels Wilderness, CO
A weekend backpack trip to Blue Lakes which is in my opinion, the most beautiful place I’ve seen in Colorado. This sunset helped too…
3500 Mile Road Trip
Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies had been calling to me for a while now. They just looked spectacular. And they are. Over the span of 11 days, I drove 5300 miles from Colorado through Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Waterton Lakes National Park, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and Yoho National Park. It was not the dream trip I had envisioned, but pretty spectacular none-the-less.
We Became River-Folk
What’s a “savings account?!” We river-folk now.
Houseboating Lake Powell
Renting a houseboat on Lake Powell (UT) and packing it full of friends and booze had been on the to-do list for a long time. It’s actually awesomer (it’s a word…) than I ever expected.
St Kitts & Nevis
The Caribbean scares me. A straight-up resort culture more reminiscent of Disneyland than real culture. However, [Saint Kitts &] Nevis was nothing like I imagined. Staying at the Four Seasons helped too…
