Back in 2012, I said that I wasn’t that impressed with Capitol Reef National Park, but I said that during a quick drive-through after spending a week in Moab and then four days at Bryce Canyon National Park. At the time, I just wasn’t as blown away as I am by so many other national parks. It was pretty, but no more-so than a lot of Utah that I had seen. Then this past Spring, on another drive-though, I totally ate those words… Coming up and over the Burr Trail though Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument into the Waterpocket district of Capitol Reef was absolutely stunning and made me do a 180° flip on my first impression. That drive only left me more curious.
In mid-October, I went back to spend three days exploring the park – Each day I hiked 8-10 miles, drove 20-30 miles of jeep trails, and made sure to shoot sunrise and sunset on each end. I got a ton of pictures, but not much to write… so here’s 16 pictures of beautiful Capitol Reef National Park.
